ProNaturaleza was founded in 1984 and is one of Peru’s oldest and most prominent non-governmental conservation organizations. Its mission is to conserve Peru’s biodiversity – one of the richest on the planet – implementing sustainable development projects, participating in environmental policy development and promoting a culture of environmental awareness. ProNaturaleza is a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
Since its foundation, our activities have grown in magnitude, scope and influence. Today, more than 20 projects in key areas of Peru provide support for the management of 13 protected areas; our professional team includes biologists, anthropologists, geographers, forest engineers, sociologists, communicators and teachers.
