Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM)

KFEM was founded in April 1993, preceded by a decade-long history of environmental movement. KFEM is now the biggest and most influential NGO in Korea, with 85,000 members and 47 local branches working on various environmental issues from nuclear power and waste, to global environmental issues such as ozone depletion, deforestration, biodiversity and climate change. Its Oceans Committee works on a variety of issues, including ocean dumping, over-fishing, the Patagonian toothfish and whales.
