International Fund for Animal Welfare, Latin America (IFAW Latin America)

Three decades ago, a small group of concerned local citizens banded together to stop a massive and brutal commercial hunt for whitecoat harp seals on the eastern coast of Canada, and a new breed of animal advocacy organization was born. IFAW’s Latin American office in Mexico City was opened in 2001 after working in the region for several years. Today we are leading several campaigns such as helping to counter an oil industry threat in Costa Rica, reducing pet overpopulation in Mexico City, and building marine awareness in the Caribbean.
