Created in 2004 by Claire Nouvian, BLOOM is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to protect the oceans by educating the public about environmental problems, by taking field actions which make a tangible difference, and by lobbying at high political level to catalyze policy change. BLOOM Association has developed its own particular method of informing the public, companies, institutions and leaders about the fragility of oceanic and deepwater environments and the need to protect them.
Starting from the postulate that we only protect what we know and love, BLOOM Association seeks to create ties of affection between the public and the “invisible” marine environment, viewing emotion as the indispensable preamble to protection. By reconnecting adults and children everywhere with nature, with the irreplaceable emotions and beauty it bestows, BLOOM aspires to raising the global level of awareness about our interactions with the oceans.
